# about oss.codes

oss.codes is a workshop for rebuilding great software in the open. We find products worth existing for free — the tools we wish were public — and we ship transparent, self-hostable versions anyone can run.

principles

transparent
Every commit, issue, and decision happens in public. No private roadmap, no closed betas.
forkable
MIT-licensed by default. Clone it, self-host it, rip it apart. It is yours.
no paywalls
We rebuild solved problems so nobody has to pay rent on them. Hosting is optional, code is free.
community-first
Good first issues, fast reviews, real credit. Contributors become maintainers.

how it works

  1. 01 We spot a closed product solving a common problem.
  2. 02 We rebuild it in the open, from scratch, MIT-licensed.
  3. 03 We ship a live demo and full self-host docs.
  4. 04 The community forks, improves, and maintains it together.
